Applications

 

 

        Itaipu is one of the biggest HDVC power grid in the world. It has a potency of 6.300 megawatts and tension of ±600 kilovolts. The HDVC was chosen, mostly, to supply energy form 50Hz generators to the 60Hz grid and because of the economic advantages regarding the great distance.

 

        It demonstrates the advantages of HDVC module back-to-back concepto of  interligation at a project set to incetivate the commerce of energy between two countries. It allows a safe operation at low-levels of curt-circuits. This system between borders allows that both countries utilize the resources of electrical energy at a more efficient and economic way, increasing the confiability of the system and allowing commerce of energy.
